J. Phil LAUTENSLAGER Obituary check_circle

Passed away at Kensington Village on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Phil was 80. Husband of Wendy. Father of Beth, Patty (Kevin), Candice (David), and Gord. Boppa, Poppa of Zach, Jonah, Anna-Rose, Liam, Tyson and Tamlyn. Special friend of Pat Wilcox. Predeceased by his sister Martha.

Phil always moved around a lot; Kitchener, Toronto, Sudbury, Guelph, Elora, Bentinck, London. He went to school in most of those places, but he spent his career in veterinary medicine in Guelph.

After earning his DVM and PhD in pathology/parasitology, he taught at the Vet College for a few years. He loved teaching!

He finished his career as a veterinary parasitologist for the Province of Ontario; a post lasting more than thirty years.

Phil went to Kensington Village nearly three years ago, starting in Independent Living, through Assisted Living then to Long Term Care just months ago. His care in all three levels was outstanding. He was even cajoled into physio. Imagine!

Dementia is a terrible illness.

Thank you Kim, Doris, KV Staff, Dr. Margrieta Edels and especially Dr. Andrew Whynot. Tracie from Kensington, you run a terrific place.

A memorial reception will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
