Douglas Maclennan Obituary check_circle

Died peacefully age 91 at Brock Fahrni Pavilion. Predeceased by beloved spouse Elva (nee Maw), Doug was the loving father of Margaret, Ruth (Chris) and Tom of Vancouver, Don (Sandra) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., a dedicated grandfather of Eric Balac (Nicole), Nicholas and Mitchell Whyte, Richard and Rachel MacLennan, a proud great-grandfather of Fynn Balac, and brother of Mary Krucker of Dundas. Born in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan and raised in southern Ontario, Doug served in Europe in WWII. He played pro football for Hamilton Wild-Cats of the ORFU, predecessor of the CFL. After marriage they farmed near Fergus, Ontario until 1968 when Doug became the first Welfare Administrator of Wellington County. Doug started the Ontario branch of the MacLennan Clan. An avid scuba-diver, Doug and Elva retired to B.C. in 1988. Doug competed as a Masters Swimmer into his late eighties. He loved boating, golf, woodworking and was active at the Tsawwassen United Church. Doug had a strong Christian faith that served him well after suffering a stroke in 2014. His phone message “It’s the Whistle that Moves the Train” says it all. Sincere thanks to Brock Fahrni care staff. Celebration of Life on Friday, August 26, 2 pm at Tssawwassen United Church.
